
Katherine O’Chee is a Sydney-based video producer and journalist. Her works have appeared in publications such as The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and SBS News, and internationally in the Bangkok Post.
Katherine currently works as a producer at Bohdee Media. There, she wears many hats as a production manager, interviewer, scriptwriter and communications extraordinaire, producing stories that highlight the extraordinary discoveries and feats of individuals in the community.
Katherine’s passion for video storytelling began at university, when she took a video production course and fell in love with the process of making documentaries. Her skills earned her an Anne Dunn Prize for Outstanding Performance in Video Production. She has also produced social videos for SBS News, including one which reached over 3 million views on Facebook.
Katherine is a Media and Communications graduate from the University of Sydney. As a top student in the Arts & Social Sciences Faculty, she was awarded the University Academic Merit Prize three years in a row, and received the Australian Federation of Graduate Women NSW Prize for achieving top scores in essay writing.
Her interest in journalism also took her overseas. As an Australia-ASEAN Council International Journalism Fellow, she worked as a reporter at the Bangkok Post. She also received a media scholarship to visit South Korea.
Driven by her passion in social justice, Katherine volunteered and worked as a communications manager for an environmental non-profit organisation for over two years. She also volunteered as a videographer for Women in Media Australia, and World Mental Health Day.
Katherine is a native English speaker and fluent in Mandarin. In her spare time, she enjoys creative writing, dance, taekwondo, and reading memoirs.
